The tube itself is the kind where you press on one end, and the lipstick pops out from the other. Still, buying lipstick from a high-end brand is far more accessible than a handbag or shoes–one of the things I love about makeup!

But, you can’t really expect otherwise when purchasing from Chanel. At $38 per tube, this is an expensive lipstick. It is part of Chanel’s Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color line, which boasts having rich, long-lasting color in a comfortable formula. My mom and brother picked out Rouge Rebelle, a vibrant, warm-toned red for my 29th birthday in February. I’m so excited to have finally tried one and share my review today. Owning a red from this iconic fashion house has been on my unofficial beauty bucket list since forever. I know that this one won’t be my last.Red lipstick and Chanel are practically synonymous. So, if you’re looking for a great red to wear on the lips, I can’t help but recommend Chanel. Of course, it helps to have a lipstick like this that offers great coverage and doesn’t bunch up when layering. The process of layering and pressing the product into the lips creates a lasting stain. After the first layer, I gently blot my lips with a tissue, do the same thing after the second layer, and then just add a bit more lipstick over that for the third. The long wear time is partly due to the fact that I applied it in three thin layers. Even then, it faded gradually and evenly–in such a way that I didn’t feel the need to reapply. I wore it during a five-course French dinner at my parent’s house, and it wasn’t until the third course that the lipstick started to fade.

I was surprised by how long this lipstick lasted on my lips, especially because it’s hydrating formula. Although a luminous finish, it doesn’t look too shiny, just enough to impart a flattering sheen. On the lips, it feel weightless and hydrating. It also gives the product a sleek look, since there is no line breaking up the length of the tube. It’s a fun mechanism that makes me feel like I’m pulling the lipstick out of a secret compartment.

Red lipstick and Chanel are practically synonymous.
